UAE's unified payday puts payroll readiness under continuous scrutiny
The enhanced Wage Protection System treats salary as delayed after the first day of the month and can escalate quickly to work-permit restrictions.

The UAE's enhanced Wage Protection System requires MoHRE-regulated private-sector establishments to transfer the previous month's salary by the first day of the new month. The former 15-day grace period no longer applies.
Monitoring and warnings begin immediately after a missed date, with measures escalating according to the duration and recurrence of the delay. A work-permit suspension can affect hiring operations well beyond the payroll team.
Employers should work backwards from the legal deadline, allowing time for bank files, approvals, public holidays and rejected transfers.
ความหมายสำหรับนายจ้าง
- Set the internal payroll cut-off several working days before month-end.
- Reconcile rejected WPS transfers immediately.
- Escalate any cash-flow risk before it affects permits and mobilisation.
