Saudi Arabia's Qiwa platform applies a rule under which a work permit may be cancelled when the holder has been outside the Kingdom for three consecutive months.

The measure is aimed at keeping employer records aligned with who is actually working in the country.

  • Continuous absence of three months can trigger cancellation
  • Employer files are expected to reflect the active workforce
  • Reinstatement means repeating permit formalities

Employers with staff on long overseas assignments, extended medical leave or unpaid leave should track absence dates carefully, because reinstating a cancelled permit costs time the business usually does not have.

这对雇主意味着什么

  • Track every employee's exit and re-entry dates centrally.
  • Flag anyone approaching a long absence threshold.
  • Plan overseas assignments against permit validity, not just visas.
