Saudi Arabia cancels work permits after three months of absence
Under Qiwa rules, a work permit can be cancelled where an employee has been outside the Kingdom for three consecutive months, with consequences for both the employer file and the worker.

Saudi Arabia's Qiwa platform applies a rule under which a work permit may be cancelled when the holder has been outside the Kingdom for three consecutive months.
The measure is aimed at keeping employer records aligned with who is actually working in the country.

Employers with staff on long overseas assignments, extended medical leave or unpaid leave should track absence dates carefully, because reinstating a cancelled permit costs time the business usually does not have.
